In May 2021, Ash-Shahada Housing Association was proud to work with local community partners, including the Stockwell Primary Care Network, Lambeth Council, and Lambeth Together, to promote a pop-in vaccination clinic at the KN Centre in Stockwell.

Lambeth Together’s Health and Wellbeing Bus was launched at Brockwell Park where they invited local councillors Lucy Caldicott, joint Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care, and Director Operations Umar Mahmood who helped with the design of the bus including the Arabic text on bus seen above saying “Welcome”.

Residents and tenants were informed whenever the vaccination bus visited the centre, enabling them to access COVID-19 vaccinations and other health services conveniently within their local community.

Ash-Shahada staff and local councillors Jim Dickson, joint-Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care, and Irfan Mohammed attend the clinic to see how the program is running. The mobile service is available for drop in from anyone in the Borough of Lambeth.

The initiative aimed to improve access to healthcare and encourage vaccine uptake among local people. Plans for future visits included offering a broader range of support services, such as benefits advice, guidance for refugees, and additional vaccinations and health checks, helping to support the overall health and wellbeing of the community.
